Dr. Jaquel Patterson is a nationally recognized naturopathic physician, sought-after speaker, success coach, 3x Amazon best-selling author, and Forbes contributor. She is the medical director and founder of Fairfield Family Health and has over 15 years of clinical experience with expertise in Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections, autoimmune conditions, integrative psychiatry, ADD/ADHD, PANS/PANDAS, allergies and environmental medicine.
Dr. Patterson’s passion for naturopathic medicine began at an early age as she grew up seeing the benefits of alternative healing practices. During her teen years, her mother struggled with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Patterson noticed that conventional treatments fell short, which fueled her passion for finding alternative options and instilled a desire to provide better care. Dr. Patterson also has her own health story of recovery with both Lyme disease and Babesia, as well as anxiety and OCD; these experiences inspired her to write her best-selling book “Women and Lyme”. She has lived some of the same personal health challenges her patients have and fully understands the nuances of these disease conditions.
After completing her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and working in the business field for several years, Dr. Patterson switched career paths and completed her doctoral degree at the University of Bridgeport, College of Naturopathic Medicine in Connecticut. Since then, she has practiced medicine with the core naturopathic tenet in mind: Treat the whole person and find the underlying cause of disease.
Dr. Patterson’s approach is anything but traditional, as she aims to meet people where they’re at, partnering with them and empowering them to, as she says, “Get back to self.” She has purposefully created a practice that provides a comfortable and healing environment that supports her naturopathic beliefs.
In addition to seeing patients and running the medical practice, Dr. Patterson is a sought-after speaker, presenting nationally and published in places like USA Today, New York Magazine, Forbes, CBS, Fox, NBC and ABC. She is the Past President for the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and currently serves on the board of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and Connecticut Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She is a certified practitioner through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and has completed a fellowship in functional medicine for psychiatry and ADD/ADHD. In addition to her naturopathic medical degree, she has her MBA in Healthcare Management from Quinnipiac University and has her undergraduate degree from Cornell University.
